It might be helpful to overseas readers like myself if writers could avoid using trade names of drug and use the accepted chemical names. This would also stop writers apparently supporting particular brands and pharmaceutical companies.

I do wish authors would not use unexplained abbreviations when it’s not abundantly clear what they’re writing about.
It’s a generally accepted norm when producing papers, to write the full form of the test or investigation when first used, then an abbreviation for later appearances of the item.
Not everyone who reads medical articles is from the same Country or specialty as the author, and it really is a courtesy to your readers to fully explain your abbreviations.

I wonder why RPR was ordered but not HIV or Hepatitis serology? If one STD was considered a possibility, why not test the full panel, as they can all cause unusual dermatoses?

I think herpes simplex ophthalmicus or kaposi’s varicelliform eruption of the eyelids would have been a far better viral differential than zoster.
