In order for the Chief Editor to implement their editorial version successfully, they must have an engaged and energetic editorial board. Promoting the journal among peers and colleagues is also vital for increasing its visibility and impact.
The Chief Editor relies on the editors’ judgement and experience, in addition to submission and reviewer performance data, to help them determine the composition of the editorial board.
Board members serve as committed editors who serve a minimum of a 1-year term. Their primary responsibilities include ensuring a steady supply of high-quality case presentations and addressing any shortfalls in submission with their publishing contact. They are expected to provide reviews on at least 8-10 postings per year and to do so according to timeliness and quality expectations. Upholding industry standards for integrity and objectivity is essential.
Board members should possess a high level of expertise in their specialty(s), have experience peer-reviewing, and a commitment to participate in the review process of Grands Rounds Case Presentations. Dermatology Grand Rounds membership or certification is not required.
Case presentations authored by a member of a journal’s editorial team are independently peer reviewed; an editor will have no input or influence on the peer review process or publication decision for their own submission.
